A FAMILY FAVORITE- Bonnie Prince Billy - Agnes Queen of Sorrow

We loved this video as soon as Charla shared it with us. It has only gotten better with time, especially because Soren has grown to love it as well. He has even fallen asleep to it on some hard nights when it was almost impossible to get him to bed (watching it over and over and over again). My friend Vicki, after seeing it, was pretty sure that the artist is Glaswegian! Such and awesome and simplistic video and song (it's like an Indie Baby Einstein video for Soren). Enjoy.

Some other tidbits:

Two of the reasons I love Glasgow are-- the daring, experimental and thought provoking art and the wonderful support that they provide for aspiring artists. I enjoy the unique collaborations and the informal and formal forums that lead to discussions, awareness and connection. I was told that the artist in the above video created discussion about whether his work was to be considered art as well. From instillation art to classical and contemporary dance you can find what you are looking for and enjoy the fruits of the art world in Glasgow.

WHAT IS ART TO YOU?

I think it is good to express what we like and don't like because it helps us find out more about ourselves and the culture and world we live in. It is also good to say "why"--it makes for fun discussions with others and ourselves.

I think the song is great. Bonnie Prince Billy writes great music. The video is perfect for the music as well because it is about as simple as you can get, and still really cool. The line drawings are perfect. I love that they ride horses and play ping pong. Those are great images. The best of all is when their arms simply extend so they can hold hands as they watch the sunset.

That is still one of my faves.

We just watched American Movie last night, and there were so many levels of "art" in it. This comment was about to get boring, so I'll stop.

I love Bill Viola. He's my favorite installation artist.

ya, sometimes the simplest stuff can be so beautiful and just make you smile. ref. the hands extending to reach each other.

. . .and some of the video is just awesomely funny.

It reminds me of Edward Gorey. I love him. I think he made it ok and funny to poke fun--and danger--at innocent things. Art does that, right?

I probably mean "vulnerable" things more than "innocent" things.

Love the video. I might have to try that with K. Love that, Indie Baby Einstein.
I can appreciate all art but impressionism is still my favorite. I can stare at it forever. I love how it looks like real life but not quite. It puts a happy fuzzy haze on it. I am a daydreamer so they are perfect for me to sit an daydream by.
I think my most amazing art experience was a Dali museum I stumbled upon in Spain, it was amazing.

I went to a crazy musical cabaret-type show in London in 2003. It was all about Edward Gorey stories and poems put to music by the Tiger Lillies and the Kronos Quartet. It was a fabulous show--and there were even some surprise guests--like Alan Rickman and some other hoity-toity highbrow celebs. A ton of fun, and quite hilarious.

It was called "The Gorey End."

reminds me of post modern dance a bit.
