Books

I love finding good children's books to read with Soren but some can be such a dread to read over and over. When Soren has picked (in my opinion) a not so great book the word "again" can be a bit cringing. Since we've been in Glasgow Jason and I have become acquainted with some books for kids that we all love to read (even over and over). One of the authors is from Glasgow and happens to be our favorite at the moment. Here is a list of some of the new finds. . . .

By Julia Donaldson (Glaswegian)

The Gruffalo
The Gruffalo's Child
Room on a Broom

By Tony Ross

I want my Potty
I want a Friend

By John Kelly and Cathy Tincknell

Guess Who's Coming for Dinner (This one is really funny and clever)

Thanks for the recommendations. It's always fun to have some new enjoyable books for story time. I just requested them all from my library.

Thanks Cammie, I'll have to check those out. Have you read/interpreted the Red Book by Barbara Lehman? It's a book with comic type pictures but no words. It's a lot of fun to interpret what is going on in each picture, sometimes the story changes- it's fun!

Wow, I love your blog. It is so nice to see what is going on in your corner of the world. I just found out something new, I didn't realize that you could change the post date. That makes it so easy to journal, when you have time. Benny is feeling better. He goes to the doctor on Wednesday.

Cammie, you don't have to pretend to like children's books because of Soren. I've caught you reading them in the corner by yourself.

I am so happy to be able to read about what your family is doing. Your blog is delightful- I read every second of it! Soren is adorable. I think he would be good pals with our Charlie-Boy. Great idea to share some favorite books. We LOVE the library. Some recent favorites that come to mind are:

"Seven Silly Eaters"
By Mary Ann Hoberman

"Ollie the Elephant"
By B. Bos and H. De Beer

Don't forget the classics- Dr. Seuss. One of Soren's favorites is One Fish Two Fish. I never get tired of reading it to him, although it doesn't have any real story to it, and it always seems to put him to sleep when he needs it. We also have First to Last, which includes Mulberry Street, The Thinks You Can Think, and The Places You'll Go.
